I made some new friends the other day. Star, Duke and Boy paused from turning over a field of rye by Powdermill Road. It's now a hobby for the owner (born in 1930) although he grew up on this farm which his father cultivated entirely with draft horses. He wanted a pony but his dad told him to ride a work horse instead. Many years later, and now a working man, he at last got his first draft pony and eventually a team of three. Star is the oldest and was born there 19 years ago. Duke and Boy were acquired 5 years ago when the driver retired from Kent City Water Department.
